In Microsoft Word 2003 and 2007, every paragraph can have its own margins. This is handy for creating block quotes.

If you quote a passage from a source that is over 40 words long, according to APA style you must separate the quote as a "block quote". The APA style block quote is double spaced with a left margin set to the 0.5 (one half) inch mark. To accomplish this you must first click anywhere in the paragraph. Then you must move the left margin marker on the ruler to the 0.5 inch mark. You click on the small rectangle part of the left margin marker to move the entire thing.
