Are Tables Needed for Layout? www.wired.com page

  • Wired.com has built their site without any tables, using CSS positioning instead.
  • Non-2D browsers "see" the pages as one long linear page.
  • The site works with all current browsers - Internet Explorer 6, Netscape 6, Opera, and Mozilla
  • Older browsers that do not understand CSS positioning see the just text and an explanatory message.
