Specific Usability Problems In UW Sites
The following are specific usability problems identified
in UW sites and how they were dealt with. Such "glitches"
are problems within the context of the purpose and design of
the site and may not be a problem in another site with
a different purpose or design.
- Confusing Structure
A site structure may seem logical for the person creating
it, but a user with a different "world-view" may find it
misleading.
- Vocabulary
Vocabulary used in a Web site supporting a class should
be carefully coordinated with the vocabulary used in the
class itself.
- Wrong Plug-In
Expecting everyone to have the very latest plug-in
is risky.
- Not For Hardcopy
Students have their own study methods that may not be the
same as what the site developer expects.
