The UWired Usability Committee is made up of persons from throughout the University of Washington who are interested in accessibility and usability of UW Web sites.

Committee meetings are held monthly, usually on or near the last Friday of each month. Notification of meetings is done by means of the usability@u.washington.edu email list.

The UWired Usability Committee was created in December 1998 with the following objectives:

  • Discuss issues of accessibility and usability as they relate to UW Web sites, particularly departmental and educational sites
  • Act as liaison between UWired and DO-IT and the Adaptive Technology Lab.
  • Review UWired developed Web sites and offer suggestions for improving their usability and accessibility
  • Develop Web site design guidelines for faculty and other educators
  • Work with the Department of Technical Communications in improving awareness of user-centered design and usability testing in the UW community

The committee maintains a Web site named Creating Sites That Work.

Communication among committee members is done by means of the usability@u.washington.edu email list. You can subscribe and unsubscribe yourself from the list.
