Graphics - Manipulating Pictures

Most digital camera photos are too large to use in their raw state. a 6 megapixel camera takes pictures that are 3000 pixels across and 2000 pixels high. This is a least 4 times bigger than the biggest computer screen. So, to have pictures that don't take forever to ooad or pictures that you can email without any problems, you need to know how to resize pictures.

To resize pictures in MS Photo Editor, use the Image menu and choose resize.

Next, change the Units to Pixels.

Then, you type in the number of pixels across or high you want. You only need to type one number in, the other will change to maintain the correct proportions.

Here, we are changing the width to 300 pixels.

Next, lets look at the Balance options, which include brightness and contrast.
