How to Edit PowerPoint Narrations
PowerPoint narrations often require much more editing than text or
pictures because sound quality may vary for many reasons, such as the
hardware, unwanted noises, lack of familiarity with the equipment,
clearing your throat,
your state of health, the emotional content you wish to provide,
etc. Fortunately it is not usually necessary to redo the entire
set of slides, or even an entire slide. There exists a nifty
utility named "Sound Recorder" that you can find along the path
Programs > Accessories > MultiMedia > Sound Recorder .
You edit a sound file as follows:
- Invoke
Sound Recorder using the above path
- Click on
File > Open and locate the ".wav"
file associated with the slide. Note: when you use RealAudio
to create narration it creates a set of numbered slides
of the form slide1.pptnnn.wav . Here is the menu
that appears:
- Play the file by clicking on the black right-pointing triangle
at the bottom -- if you get the wrong file try the next or
previous "nnn" number.
- Stop the playback at any time by clicking the rectangle to the
right of the triangle.
- At this point, you can click on
Edit > Delete Before Current
Position or after the current position. Then if you click
on
the red circle you can begin your narration. Thus you can either
record the entire slide or portions that go before or after
a chosen point.
- Then click on
File > Save to save the edited .wav
file.
