MLIS Portfolio
Conclusion
Some of the themes I see moving through several of my portfolio and work experiences are leadership, reference work, teaching, and facilitation. The last term, although not overtly discussed previously in my portfolio, is an excellent summary of how I approach my work now and how I plan to continue approaching it in the future. I see myself as a facilitator in many ways. As a leader, I facilitate the advancement of fellow members of my professional organization and the staff I work with on a day to day basis. As a writer, I try to facilitate the logical flow of ideas in their clear transmission to the reader. As a teacher, I facilitate the learning of students and their ability to continue their own learning in the future. As an active user of technology, I try to promote more direct access to information. And, finally, through service, I hope to facilitate the efforts of others in finding the information they need.
In recent weeks, as I have contemplated my MLIS graduation and the end of my many years of graduate studies, I have thought about what is next in my life. I have come to the conclusion that I do not know what is next, and that is fine with me. I am open to all possibilities and trust that I will find the place I am meant to be in the world of information.
