Sweet Broccoli Slaw Salad

Combination of 2 recipes from Betty Rabe and Betty Sims in Southern Living.
Ingredients:
2 (12 oz) pkgs broccoli slaw mix
1 c. light or regular mayonnaise
1/2 c. sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 c. sweetened dried cranberries
1 granny smith apple, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 c. pecan halves, chopped
4 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Stir together mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar in a large bowl; add slaw, apples, and dried cranberries, tossing gently to coat. Cover and chill 8 hours.
Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add chopped pecans and cook, stirring often, 3 minutes or until toasted. Sprinkle sugar over pecans and cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute or until sugar dissolves and pecans are coated. Remove from heat and slightly cool.
Add pecan mixture and chives to slaw mixture, tossing to combine.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
