3. Outreach Services for Local Population

Introducing the East Cape Province Outreach Program which addresses the region's coastal economy and the needs of the local disadvantaged population. It aims to establish a pilot program of small and micro-enterprise incubation, as well as to launch a professional and public education in sustainable marine and coastal resource use for members of the coastal community.

4. Regional Collaboration (Namibia, Mozambique)

Extending international collaboration links, via UPE, to the University of Namibia and the University of Eduardo Mondlane, Mozambique. Benefits of the UW-UPE collaboration will be transferred through increased enrollment of students in UPE from these countries and later by establishment of marine affairs programs in both universities.
