DXARTS
Guidelines for Contributors
The DXARTS on-line Catalogue of Digital and Experimental Arts
(CODEXA)
(http://content.lib.washington.edu/dxartsweb/)
is an electronic
resource which contains information about works created
by those affiliated with the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental
Media. These works include collaborations between DXARTS
and other groups, individual works by DXARTS faculty and staff,
student work, such as Ph.D. dissertations and undergraduate theses,
as well as work by former students or affiliated artists.
Form of Submission
Please provide the following:
- Identifying information about the project
by entering project metadata on the CODEXA
web site;
- ISO-9660 (International Standards Organization 9660) conformant data CD/DVD with:
- Project files: including computer code/programs,
audio/video files, associated image and
text files, other data such a spreadsheets;
- A brief video/audio clip of the work (~20 seconds)
or still images. These will be available to all users of
CODEXA
as sample representations of your work;
- A short written description of your work (less than
250 words);
- A list of the files contained on the CD/DVD.
- All filenames should have extentions.
- Avoid any spaces in file names. Use underscores
to replace spaces.
- Contributors to CODEXA will be asked to complete a Creative
Commons licensing agreement for information about and the provided
representational audio/video depictions of their projects.
Contributors retain all rights to their work.
- DXARTS may show the work to prospective students, donors,
and others.
- All projects will be generally accessible through DSpace.
- If a project does not have general access, contributors agree
to allow DXARTS to serve as gatekeeper granting access on a
case-by-case basis to download the project in agreement with
the Creative Commons License.
- Contributors to CODEXA
declare that the work they are
submitting does not infringe prevailing US copyrights.
- Avoid the following in your submitted work (CD/DVD):
- viruses
- encryption
- compression
- password-protection
- Digital Rights Management (DRM) controls
- platform/vendor/proprietary formats
- USE stable, open, well-supported file formats:
- TEXT (ASCII):
*.txt, *.html, *.xml, *.csv
- IMAGE:
*.tiff, *.jp2
- AUDIO:
*.aiff, *.wav
- VIDEO:
*.avi, *.mov(H.264)
