The Teachnology & Webagogy site grew out of a resource list I developed for classes I was teaching to faculty on how to use Web technologies.

Themes

Certain themes will pop up frequently on this site:

• Pedagogy comes before technology. Work out your educational plan and objectives, then use technology to the degree that it helps you reach your objectives.
• Good pedagogy addresses both teaching methods and learning styles.
• No single technology meets all needs. Effective solutions will use a combination of technologies.
• Change is normal.

The Site List

The Site List is a collection of quality links relating to the use of instructional technology in higher education.

This list is not meant to be comprehensive. Preference is given to sites that are of high professional quality or that offer unique content or features. Inert or out-of-date sites will be dropped at my discretion.

The Articles List

Articles are selected because they look interesting to me. Things I find interesting include the following:

• Descriptions of the use of instructional technology in real life situations, including objectively gathered data and thoughtful discussion of implications
• Vision articles attempting to discern future directions of IT, education, and all that
• Perspectives articles that clearly articulate alternative viewpoints

The Notes List

The Notes are brief essays on topics relating to instructional technologies and higher education. New notes will be posted about every three or four weeks, or whenever the muse demands.

If you are interested in writing a note, please send your proposal to rells@cac.washington.edu. Notes should not be longer than about a thousand words.
