About Me

How did I get into this business? I am not quite sure, but here are some of the milestones I passed by along the way.

  • Bachelor of Arts degree from the UW in Editorial Journalism.
  • Master of Science degree from the College of Forest Resources at the UW. My Master's thesis was a simulation of forest fire effects on ecosystems.
  • Past employments:
    • Nature photographer for National Park Service at Mount Rainier
    • Industrial photographer for Honeywell Marine Systems
    • Technical writer for Service Center 1 in Olympia
    • Scientific database programmer for the Coronary Artery Surgery Study (I actually have my name on two papers in the New England Journal of Medicine)
    • Database manager for the Regional Forest Nutrition Research Project and the Stand Management Cooperative

Among my personal interests are nature photography, bicycle touring, genealogy, celtic music, and creative writing.
