Cryptography is the art and science of keeping msgs secure (done by cryptographers).
Cryptography provides:
- confidentiality
- authentication (keeps intruders from masquerading as others),
- integrity (makes certain the msg wasn’t modified in transit)
- nonrepudiation (a sndr shouldn’t be able to falsely deny later that he sent a msg).
