Lesson Overview
It is important for learners to recognize that the online classroom is in fact a classroom, and certain behaviors are expected when communicating with both peers and instructors. The purpose of this lesson is to help learners to become more effective and successful when communicating via e-mail, chat rooms, or on discussion boards as a part of their online learning activities by identifying the key principles of Netiquette. They will be able to recognize the generally accepted norms for internet use and internet etiquette - also known as netiquette
Key Learning Objectives
College students in higher education, given examples of different online communication scenarios, will be able to correctly classify 8 out of 10 good or poor netiquette practices as defined by the core rules of netiquette outlined in this lesson and based on the book Netiquette by Virginia Shea (1994).
