Remember everyone is human and may make mistakes while conversing online - they may make spelling mistakes or there may be typos. Be forgiving!
Let’s look at an example
Scenerio 1
In the class discussion forum, you notice other students make spelling and grammatical errors. This bothers you and often you correct them. Is this is a demonstration of good netiquette practice?
Yes-
No - be forgiving. People make mistakes. If you want to discuss that with them, send them a private e-mail rather than saying it in a public forum
Scenerio 2
You find an international student in your class makes a few grammatical mistakes on their online post. You write to her via e-mail, asking her if she would like your help in correcting her English via e-mail. She agrees. So you take time to help her with her written English. Is this is a demonstration of good netiquette practice?
Yes - because you were polite and forgiving of your classmates mistakes. You communicated with her privately rather than pointing out her mistakes in a public discussion forum
No
