About this webpage
This page is to document the Heard Island Feasibility Test and to provide supporting material
(data, hard-to-get publications, multimedia, etc.) for those that are interested in finding out more about
this fascinating experiment.
The opinion of this author is that the subject and existing data are rather fertile for additional
research. More uptodate data, software, and computing power offer avenues of research that were unavailable
in the early 1990's when the experiment and analysis were conducted.
These pages were begun by Brian Dushaw (dushawATapl.washington.edu) on the occasion of Walter Munk's 90th
birthday, October 19, 2007. Important contributions were provided by: Art Baggeroer, Breck Betts, Matt Dzieciuch,
Andrew Forbes, Kurt Metzger, Bob Spindel and Peter Worcester.
These pages have evolved over time (Fall 2007/June 2010/August 2010) and are still under development.
