The goal of these scholarships is to strengthen students\u2019 commitment and skills for a career in academia by providing funding to attend the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Students and recent graduates<strong> Andrew Berry<\/strong>, \u201910, <strong>Nicole Even<\/strong>, \u201909, and <strong>Megan Roseman<\/strong>, \u201909, were invited to present posters at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Three School of Pharmacy posters \u2014 authored by <strong>Cynthia Clegg<\/strong>,<strong>Jennifer Danielson<\/strong>, <strong>Karan Dawson<\/strong>, <strong>Dana Hammer<\/strong>, <strong>Ellen Maddox<\/strong>,<strong>Nanci Murphy<\/strong>, <strong>Terri O\u2019Sullivan<\/strong>, <strong>Peggy Odegard<\/strong>, <strong>Monica Sahn<\/strong> and<strong>Stan Weber<\/strong> \u2014 were presented at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Three UW faculty members were installed in AACP leadership positions. School of Pharmacy Senior Lecturer <strong>Karan Dawson<\/strong> is now the chair of the AACP continuing professional education section. Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy <strong>Dana Hammer<\/strong> is the secretary of the council of faculties.<strong> Annie Lam<\/strong> is the chair of the geriatric pharmacy special interest group.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A team of UW students was named a finalist in the Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition, sponsored by the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA). The team \u2014 <strong>Alisha Fewins<\/strong>, \u201911, <strong>Zsolt Hepp<\/strong>, \u201912, <strong>Dana Ling<\/strong>, \u201911, and <strong>Rachel Merrill<\/strong>, \u201911 \u2014 will compete for first place against teams from the University of Arizona and the University of Georgia at the NCPA annual convention in October.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Milo Gibaldi Endowed Professor of Pharmaceutics <strong>Rodney Ho\u00a0<\/strong>accepted the AACP Paul R. Dawson Biotechnology Award. This annual award goes to a pharmacy educator who has made important contributions to contemporary teaching and scholarship in biotechnology.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Alumnus and 2007 School of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumnus <strong>Duane Miller<\/strong>, \u201969, accepted the <a href=\"http:\/\/issuu.com\/aacp\/docs\/apn-2-2009\/24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Volwiler Research Achievement Award<\/a> for his outstanding research and contributions to the field of pharmaceutical sciences.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Associate Dean of Academic and Student Programs <strong>Nanci Murphy<\/strong> received an AACP Teacher of the Year Award.
