He graduated with a B.Sc. from Nakai University, Tianjin, China, completed his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at University of Illinois at Chicago, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Vanderbilt University. His current research focuses on investigating the role of 7-dehydrocholesterol (7-DHC)-derived oxysterols in the pathophysiology of Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome (a cholesterol biosynthesis disorder) and developing therapeutic approaches toward this disease and development of novel lipidomic approaches based on ion mobility-mass spectrometry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/department-of-medicinal-chemistry\/department-info-2\/department-news\/\">Link to Medicinal Chemistry archived news<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LIBIN XU, Ph.D., is\u00a0an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry.
