{"id":29431,"date":"2022-05-25T14:29:06","date_gmt":"2022-05-25T21:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sop.washington.edu\/?p=29431"},"modified":"2026-04-08T09:49:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T16:49:17","slug":"pharmd-phd-student-awarded-magnuson-scholarship-for-2022-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/pharmd-phd-student-awarded-magnuson-scholarship-for-2022-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"CHOICE PhD Student Awarded Magnuson Scholarship for 2022\u20132023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sop.washington.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/Yilin-Chen-2.jpg\" alt=\"Yilin Chen\" width=\"200\" \/>The UW School of Pharmacy is proud to announce that\u00a0<strong>Yilin Chen<\/strong>, a PhD candidate in The CHOICE Institute, has been selected as one of the Magnuson Scholars for the 2022\u20132023 academic year.<\/p>\n<p>While pursuing her PhD, Yilin has had many worthwhile research experiences through class projects, independent study with faculty, and research assistant positions with many focusing on diabetes. She also performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of kidney outcomes, which was published in the <em>Journal of Clinical Endocrinology &amp; Metabolism<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Yilin\u2019s research experience in diabetes will serve as a foundation for her future career within a health sciences institution or industry, where she hopes to continue to research how real-world data and health economics methodologies may be used to improve patient access and outcomes, service delivery, and reduce inequalities for patients with diabetes and other medical conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The Magnuson Scholar Program is a key component of the Warren G. Magnuson Institute for Biomedical Research and Health Professions Training and is funded by an endowment established in 1991 in the late Senator\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>Each scholar was nominated by their respective Health Sciences School on the basis of outstanding academic performance and potential contributions to research in the health sciences. All Magnuson Scholars help carry on the legacy of the late Senator Warren G. Magnuson and his remarkable commitment to improving the nation\u2019s health through biomedical research, education, and responsive, sustainable healthcare discoveries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UW School of Pharmacy is proud to announce that\u00a0Yilin Chen, a PhD candidate in The CHOICE Institute, has been selected as one of the Magnuson Scholars for the 2022\u20132023 academic year.
