Her goal is to become an interdisciplinary researcher in pharmacology and drug deliver innovations. She will be working with Nina Isoherranen&#8217;s lab.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am thrilled to be joining Dr. Nina Isoherranen\u2019s research group for\u00a0the PSSDP program. I cannot wait to work in such an esteemed lab and\u00a0gain a better understanding of fetal pharmacology and drug metabolism.\u00a0More than anything, I am ready to soak in all of the knowledge from Dr.\u00a0Isoherranen, other faculty, and graduate students, while at a place as\u00a0rewarding as the University of Washington.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21730\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21730\" style=\"width: 268px\" class=\"figure figure-caption wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21730\" src=\"https:\/\/sop.washington.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/Alam_Yasmine-268x300.jpg\" alt=\"Yasmine Alam is a junior from California State University, Fullerton, who will take part in the 2019 UWSOP Pharmacological Sciences Summer Diversity Program\" width=\"268\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Alam_Yasmine-268x300.jpg 268w, https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Alam_Yasmine-768x860.jpg 768w, https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Alam_Yasmine-375x420.jpg 375w, https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Alam_Yasmine-750x840.jpg 750w, https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Alam_Yasmine.jpg 804w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 268px) 100vw, 268px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21730\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yasmine Alam is a junior from California State University, Fullerton, who will take part in the 2019 UWSOP Pharmacological Sciences Summer Diversity Program <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Yasmine Alam<\/strong>\u00a0is a junior from California State University, Fullerton, who will receive her BS in Biochemistry in 2020.\u00a0 She will be working with Bill Atkins&#8217; lab.\u00a0Yasmine&#8217;s experience in the lab environment includes:\u00a0Purification via column chromatography (fast protein liquid chromatography, size exclusion chromatography), Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis, Western Blotting, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, Co-immunoprecipitation; and\u00a0DNA cloning, RNA isolation, RT-PCR (measures the amount of a specific RNA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis summer will be hugely transformative for me. I\u2019ll be working alongside top-tier students and faculty, each with their own unique ideas and perspectives to share.
