Theresa Aliwarga, Medicinal Chemistry graduate student <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Theresa Aliwarga<\/b>, a Medicinal Chemistry graduate student and researcher in\u00a0Rheem Totah<\/b>\u2019s lab, was invited to give a podium presentation of her research on CYP2J2-mediated epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) as potential markers for cardiovascular disease at this summer\u2019s Gordon Research Conference in Drug Metabolism.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was able to show that a higher level of EETs is associated with lower risk of sudden cardiac arrest,\u201d she said. \u201cCardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of mortality globally,\u201d she stated. \u201cIf monitoring EET levels could be used to detect anomalies in the heart, it could prevent a lot of damage associated with cardiovascular disease.\u201c<\/p>\n
