The awards are each worth $500 and will be applied toward the fee for the Geriatric Certificate.<\/p>\n<p>The awards are intended to support students with a demonstrated desire to work with older adults and a vision for the future of geriatric pharmacy practice. Essay responses in the Certificate application will serve as the application for an award.<\/p>\n<h2>Leland Scholarship<\/h2>\n<p>This $500 scholarship is made possible through the generosity of Virginia Leland, BSPharm, an alumn of the University of Washington School of Pharmacy, to support students with an interest in geriatric pharmacy research, training, and practice. A few years later, Louise decided that a parallel fund to support geriatric pharmacy would be a perfect complement, so in tribute to her late father, UWSOP alum Dean Baxter \u201958, she established the Dean Baxter Endowed Support Fund in Geriatric Pharmacy in 2017. The fund supports professional pharmacy students and practicing pharmacists seeking a Plein Certificate in Geriatric Pharmacy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"su-posts su-posts-default-loop \">\n<div id=\"su-post-28576\" class=\"su-post \">\n<h2 class=\"su-post-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/four-students-awarded-baxter-scholarships-in-geriatric-pharmacy\/\">Four students awarded Baxter scholarships in Geriatric Pharmacy<\/a><\/h2>\n<div class=\"su-post-meta\">\n\t\t\t\t\tPosted: December 23, 2021\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"su-post-excerpt\">\n<p>Four second-year pharmacy students have been selected to receive a Baxter Scholarship toward their fee for the Plein Certificate in Geriatric Pharmacy. The Plein Center Leadership Team was inspired by the motivation and vision of the scholarship recipients. Each scholarship winner shared compelling personal stories of experiences that inspired them to pursue a career in geriatric pharmacy.
