{"id":10713,"date":"2015-09-17T14:09:22","date_gmt":"2015-09-17T21:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sop.washington.edu\/?page_id=10713"},"modified":"2023-02-21T11:34:11","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T19:34:11","slug":"emergency-loans","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/twentzel\/wordpress\/pharmd\/student-affairs\/emergency-loans\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Loans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emergency loans from the School of Pharmacy are offered on a short-term or long-term basis with a maximum of $1,000 &#8211; $3,000 per year.<\/p>\n<h3>To apply for an emergency loan:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Contact <a href=\"mailto:abruslet@uw.edu\">Andrew Brusletten<\/a>, Assistant Dean for Program Operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>To be eligible for an emergency loan, a student must:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Be enrolled full time (12 credits minimum)<\/li>\n<li>Be available to discuss with the Assistant Dean for Program Operations the reasons you need the loan; acceptable reasons generally involve an unforeseen lack of funds needed for food, housing, transportation, learning materials, equipment, or supplies<\/li>\n<li>Complete and submit an application form<\/li>\n<li>Sign a promissory note with Student Fiscal Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Short term option:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A short term emergency loan requires 90-day repayment policy or upon demand when financial aid or Stafford disbursement is received.<\/li>\n<li>No interest will be charged, if repaid on time.<\/li>\n<li>The short term loan fund is not considered as a resource to financial aid eligibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Long term option:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Interest rates vary.<\/li>\n<li>This long-term loan fund is considered a financial resource in financial aid eligibility and requires notifying the Financial Aid Office by filling out a Revision Request form.<\/li>\n<li>Student must keep lender updated on his or her own enrollment status.<\/li>\n<li><strong>It is your responsibility to consult the Assistant Dean for Program Operations for information on the repayment schedule for these loans.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Guidelines for Completing the application form:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cLoan amount\u201d &#8211; enter amount discussed and agreed to by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.<\/li>\n<li>Loan type:\u201d check \u201cDepartmental.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Continue completing the following pertinent information: \u201cName, Address, Employer Information, Parent\u2019s Information, References (two) and your Signature.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Of note<\/strong>: If an applicant has \u201c0\u201d unmet need, and we award a student an emergency long term loan (as opposed to short term loan), the UW will most likely deduct from the current UW loan package.
