{"id":11,"date":"2016-02-11T07:05:58","date_gmt":"2016-02-11T07:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/tofty\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2021-12-09T23:36:27","modified_gmt":"2021-12-09T23:36:27","slug":"senior-research-scientist","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staff.washington.edu\/tofty\/","title":{"rendered":"Principal Investigator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been a research scientist at the\u00a0University of Washington <a href=\"http:\/\/fish.uw.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences<\/a>\u00a0in the <a href=\"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/wet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wetland Ecosystem Team<\/a> since 2000, focusing on nearshore restoration and effects of shoreline armoring in Puget Sound. The ecological interactions of juvenile fishes and invertebrates\u00a0with estuarine systems is the underlying framework for most of my research. In addition to field-based research, I have worked on two recent projects with Washington Sea Grant: 1) establishing standardized protocols as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/shoremonitoring.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shoreline Monitoring Database<\/a>, and 2) coordinating the <a href=\"https:\/\/pspwa.box.com\/s\/wgbl9zmrov2nd4qdor5iwvlnkckg6hac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PSEMP Nearshore work group<\/a> to increase communication on nearshore issues in Puget Sound.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been a research scientist at the\u00a0University of Washington School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences\u00a0in the Wetland Ecosystem Team since 2000, focusing on nearshore restoration and effects of shoreline armoring in Puget Sound.
