UW Webpine

Email Attachments

For TEDUC 566, we will use the UW WebPine email and email attachments to submit all assignments except for the local web site and the SimpleSite assignment. K-12 school districts all have their own email systems they use for internal communications. The teachers and administrators are required to use the school district email system. In fact, it is usual that other web based email is filtered and blocked. As a district employee, you may not be able to access Yahoo, Google, or HotMail, or any other email system. Thus, this experience of being required to use this email system resembles a real world challenge you are likely to encounter in your career in K-12.

One way to get to the UW WebPine eail system is to got to MyUW, log in, and then choose the "Check UW Email" link.

When you click on the "Check UW Email" link you will then see the welcome screen for WebPine. Clcik the "Open NetID user's Inbox Now" button.

Here is the main screen of UW WebPine email. This shows the inbox of email you can read, reply to, forward, or delete.

We will use this program to submit documents for this class. To submit an assignment, the assignment needs to be "attached". This means that when the email is sent, the attached file (document) is ALSO sent.

To begin, click the "Compose" link on the left side of the screen.

When you clisk the "Compose" button, you will be taken to the new email message screen. Below the "Attach" button is highlighted.

After you click the "Attach" button, you are taken to the "Attach a File" screen. The next step is to click the "Browse" button to choose the file you wish to attach and send.

When you click the "Browse" button, you will see a dialog box that allows you to navigate to anywhere on your computer and choose the file you wish to attach and send.

After choosing the file and clicking on the "Open" button, you will see thefinal step in attaching a file. Click on the "Add Attachment" button. Note the "Browse" box is indicates where the attached file is on the hard drive.

After clicking on "Add Attachment" yo wil go back to the new message screen. Note the attachment is listed on the page now. Also, if you change your mind, you may remove the attachment from the email. This does not delete the file from your computer, only prevents it from being sent.

The last step is to click the send button on the left side, and click on the OK button. This will send the email AND the attached file off to the recipient.

If you wish to delete email from your inbox, you will click on the checkbox next to the email message, and use the "Expunge" button.

When you click on the "Expunge" button, you will be taken to the delete confirm screen.
