Tool Procedures
The Powered Air Purifying Respirator system is a kit.
To issue a papr system you will need:
The battery powered turbo unit. Location 05lkd,e,f
A tyvek helmet (usually supplied by the user). Location 05rne, f
A hose (long or short) to connect the turbo unit to a tyvek helmet. Loc 05lkf
A hose clamp to connect the hose to the turbo unit. Loc 05rmf020
Three filter cartridges. (usually supplied by the user). Loc 05rkc010, 020
A yellow labeled, fully charged battery. Loc charger rack d010.
A turbo flow meter. Loc 05rkf070
A roll of vinyl tape. Loc 05rmb040, 050
An alcohol cleaning wipe. Loc 05rmf030
To issue a papr system you must:
Interview the client.
Has the client been trained on this equipment?
Do they need filter cartridges?
Do they need a helmet?
Inspect equipment for completeness and cleanliness. Point out the condition of the kit to the client.
Make sure all orifices are covered with tape. The dust inside the hose and turbo is toxic. The orifices must be secured with tape.
Make sure there are no extraneous items from the bag. Dirt, drill bits, nails and hardware can damage the equipment and cause leaks.
Make sure all surfaces are wiped down. There should be no evident dust or dirt.
Make sure no pieces are missing. Check the contents against “…you will need” above.
If the kit doesn’t pass the inspection, set it aside and pull another kit to issue the client.
Clean the first kit and return it to stock.
Make all necessary entries into aim and the log book
Obtain the clients signature.
To return a kit you must:
Interview the client. Don’t allow them to drop off the kit and leave before you inspect the kit.
Ask if there were problems with the unit.
Make sure all orifices are covered with tape. The dust inside the hose and turbo is toxic. The orifices must be secured with tape.
Make sure the client has removed all extraneous items from the bag. Dirt, drill bits, nails and hardware can damage the equipment and cause leaks.
Make sure all surfaces are wiped down. There should be no evident dust or dirt.
Make sure no pieces are missing. Check the contents against “…you will need” above. Replace alcohol pads, tape and the flow meter if any are missing or broken.
If the client won’t clean the kit, clean it yourself before returning it to stock.
Make all necessary entries into aim and the log book.
Return all pieces to their proper locations. Hoses are marked with their part numbers and the bin boxes reflect the part numbers on the hoses.
Place the battery in a charger.
