Ladder Issue

The ladders are all stocked in aisle 06 of the uc stores warehouse.

They stand vertically stacked by size and type. Each stack is chained together for earthquake protection. It’s important to keep ladders stored chained together and in their proper locations.

Inspect the ladder per procedure. A good inspection routine is in the manual at 1148rs06jc010.

It’s a good idea to keep a cart in the area due to the size and weight of the ladders and their distance from the counter.

Deliver ladder to client and help load if necessary.

Get a signature in the log book and make the aim entry.

Ladder Return

Inspect the ladder per procedure.

Mark the return in the log book and make the aim entry.

Return the ladder to its proper stack in the aisle

Re-chain the stack.

Before and After Each Use:

Inspect labels for presence and legibility. The rate label must be complete and undamaged.

Rate labels must be secured with clear tape to prevent damage.

If the rating label is damaged but legible, repair the damage with clear tape.

If the ladder fails any part of the inspection, place a “do not issue” tag on the ladder and change it’s status in aim to “returned” and change “rentable” to “no”.

Inspection -- prior to each use, inspect ladder for the following:

• free of cracks, splits, corrosion, and protruding nails, screws and splinters

• steps/ rungs free of oil/grease

• steps/ rungs firmly attached to side rails

• safety feet/base and other hardware in good condition

• movable parts operate smoothly without binding or excessive play

• ropes in good condition (for extension ladders)
