HEPA VACUUM CHECKOUT AND CHECKIN PROCEDURE

CHECK-OUT OF HEPA VACUUMS

VERIFY TRAINING STATUS OF EMPLOYEE BEFORE ISSUE

Determine which vacuum is most suitable to the employees needs and pull it and its accessory bag from stock.

Inspect and inventory the vacuum and the contents of the accessory bag. The items should be complete and in good shape from the inspection from the previous check-in, but if not, then bring up to standard or issue another vacuum.

Omega vacuum kit contents:

Motor

Filter Cartridge with cap.

Power Cord

Hose with two caps

Crevice tool

Extension tool

Extension Hose (Optional, add or remove)

Hose Coupler (Optional, add or remove)

Air Systems Accessory bag contents:

Two piece wand

Hose

Brush attachment, wide

Floor attachment, wide

Crevice Tool

Upholstery tool

Manual

Tape, vinyl

- Have the employee sign the green log book like any other tool.

CHECK-IN OF HEPA VACUUMS

- Identify the vacuum as the correct one.

- Inspect the vacuum cleaner for dust on the surface and assure that all orifices are tightly taped. . REFUSE THE RETURN OF ANY VACUUM WHICH DOESN’T PASS THIS INSPECTION. Ask the employee to return the vacuum when it complies.

- Inspect each accessory in the bag for dust or damage. Make sure that ALL ORIFICES ON EACH ACCESSORY ARE TIGHTLY TAPED. REFUSE THE RETURN OF ANY ACCESSORY WHICH DOESN’T PASS THIS INSPECTION. Ask the employee to return the bag when it complies.

- If there is contamination, submit a work request for abatement and remove the unit from inventory per procedures.

Hepa Vacuum Protocol for Lead/<1% Vacuums

1. A vacuum is checked out to an M&A or CEO employee.

2. Vacuum is put in Checked Out status in Aim.

3. M&A employees are responsible for all parts of the vacuum when it is checked out, to include the parts bag and all parts including the manual.

4. Tool Room personnel assume that the employee is trained to use the vacuum for the intended purpose.

5. A vacuum comes back to the Tool Room.

6. If the exterior of the vacuum or vacuum bag is visibly dirty Tool Room personnel will not accept it back into Tool Room inventory.

7. When a vacuum is full, vacuum is put in Unavailable status in AiM.

8. Tool Room employee sends down the vacuum to the Regulated Material Management Office with all of the replacement filters.

9. Saeid Rastegar and RMMO the will not accept a vacuum without replacement filters.

10. RMMO replaces filters and cleans vacuum, parts, and bags.

11. If a vacuum does not come to the RMMO with filters, the vacuum is sent back to the Tool Room.

12. Tool Room employee inspects the vacuum and bag, ensuring vacuum is ready to deploy.

13. Vacuum is brought back into AiM under Available status and put into Tool Room Stock.
