Teresia Teaiwa

Her many publications include a volume of poetry, Searching for Nei Nim'anoa (published in Suva by Mana/the South Pacific Creative Arts Society in1995). Her work frequently reflects the interplay between her African American and Pacific heritages. She is a founding member of the Suva-based Niu Waves Writers Collective, and has performed with the Collective in venues around Suva. Her writing has been featured on Radio Australia and Radio New Zealand broadcasts and she is launching a cd of spoken word with Samoan writer, Sia Figiel titled TERENESIA (produced in Honolulu by Richard Hamasaki and Doug Matsuoka). She is currently an assistant professor of Pacific Studies at Victoria University of Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand.
