Designed in the 50s by the Weider corporation and popularized by Charles Smith, this diabolical device was utilized for partial range movements in strength gaining cycles before power racks were popular, for safeties sake. Now, for this purpose, this type of device was ok, but now people are using it for full range movements, and it is, in my opinion and in many others, a bad thing. Simply reference the articles of Poliquin, Chek, and our own esteemed Dr. Siff about the resultant dangers. Steve Shafley - -----Original Message----- From: Shawn T. I know it's a killer but it worked and it was fast. Smith Machine Press Upright Rows 21's Do 3 tri sets until failure...my shoulders got stronger for sure and seemed to handle more weight when I benched like never before. My rear delts got way thicker too. It may seem corny but it worked for me...
