William Kreuter, Senior Computer Specialist. I'm the computer programmer and hardware and software consultant for the Center for Cost and Outcomes Research, a unit of the Department of Health Services, which is in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Washington. I'm responsible for SAS programming and creation and maintenance of SAS databases. I receive and utilize all data arriving on tape; perform marvellous and inspiring data merges; and run all manner of reports, tables, crosstabs, statistics, correlations, regressions, adjusted rates and hypothesis tests.
I'm a native of New York City, and I've also lived in Albany, NY and in the Boston area. I've lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1982 and in Seattle since 1985. I've worked for the Back Pain Outcome Assessment Team, which is one of the groups of research studies housed at the Center for Cost and Outcomes Research, since November, 1989.
In March, 1995 I completed my Master of Public Administration, majoring in environmental policy (with an emphasis on electric energy policy) at the University's Graduate School of Public Affairs. However, I learned in the course of my studies that the mid-90s are not a terribly good time to be working in energy policy, so I guess that the Department of Health Services is still stuck with me.
