Science
Service Learning, CHEM 197/297/397 is a series of courses offered
through the Department of Chemistry that gives students the chance
to combine their science backgrounds with community service activities.
Recent service activities include:
1) leading young children
in science activities at Seattle Emergency Housing
2) teaching middle school
students water quality monitoring, ethnobotany and kayaking as part
of the "Science by Kayak" project (spring quarter only)
3) aiding high school
students in performing DNA sequencing as part of the "High School
Human Genome Project"(winter and spring quarters)
4) mentoring high school
science students at Garfield High School.
