This online training program is designed to cover all five competency modules: Compliance, Environment of Care, Infection Control, Organizational Improvement, and Patient Safety.

All Harborview Medical Center staff are required to complete core competencies each year. However, those who attend(ed) Harborview New Staff Orientation during 2008 do not have to take this online version.

We estimate that it will take you less than an hour to complete the HMC Annual Core Competencies.

This online program consists of the following five modules:

1. Compliance
2. Environment of Care
3. Infection Control
4. Organizational Improvement
5. Patient Safety

There is a quiz at the end of each module.  The quizzes are designed to check your understanding of the information contained in the module.

You must COMPLETE all 5 of the quizzes and click on the SUBMIT RESPONSES button after reviewing your answers in order to be completed for the HMC Annual Core Competencies.

Once you are finished with a module and quiz, please move on to the next module. To do this, close the module window and the quiz window(s). This main page should still be open. Click on the next module

• To navigate through this program, you should know:
• The left column on every page lists the contents of the page.
• The right column is where you will find a link to each of the five modules. To go to any one of the modules, click on its name.
• The modules do not have to be taken in any particular order.
• Following each module is a link to the module's quiz. Click on the link to take the quiz. Please read the directions carefully before each quiz.
• After completing and submitting the quiz, you will be given the correct answers to any questions you answered incorrectly. If you did not answer any questions incorrectly, you will only be given your confirmation number.
