Future Project Ideas

  • Horticultural Knowledge Base
    • Phase 1: database of reference questions and Garden Tools with a randomized "for fun" automatic query [currently under development]
    • Phase 2: add favorite book and magazine article citations and annotated web sites
    • Phase 3: advanced searching
  • Electronic resource development
    • New Web Directory pages of government resources and wildlife
    • Academically linked resource guides for UW and community college students
    • "Library Literacy" tutorials for users in three formats: online, print handouts and workshops for students and public
    • "Favorite Resource" reference book and database reviews
    • Digitize CUH/WPA owned assets such as images and archival material to create online exhibits
  • Miller Library Contacts Database
    • Continue application development, including reports
    • Document every form, query, table and report
  • Develop and implement marketing plan for PAL and library
  • Grow Physically
    • Add branch at the Washington Park Arboretum
    • Develop "Bookmobile" to take library to nurseries and other counties
  • Fundraising
    • Add donation page on web site with online/credit card compatible form
    • Promote planned giving and employer matched donations with brochures available in print and online
    • Develop creative funding opportunities, such as sponsored shelves and subjects
  • Catalog serials collection; integrate with UW Libraries' Innovative ILS
  • Automate circualtion system and add barcodes to all volumes
