Testing the role of Wnt Signalling on Neural Crest Cell Fate

Medial neural crest cells adjacent to the dorsal Wnt signal make non-neural derivatives, while lateral neural crest cells make neural cerivatives but not pigment cells. To test the role of the Wnt pathway on neural crest cell fate, we have blocked Wnt signalling in medial cells with a dominant-negative Wnt or truncated form of TCF. We have activated Wnt signalling in lateral cells with an activated beta-catenin. Crest derivatives are followed with co-injectedGFP.
