L.C.G.B. Show by Ian Hepworth

The L.C.G.B. shows are one of the high points of my scootering year and I went as far as having a row with one of my bosses to make sure I'd have the day off. I'd been put on a night shift the night before and was supposed to go straight to Dunstable without any kip - I think not!

Anyway Simon Thistlethwaite (Member 13 and owner of award winning chop Hardly Davidson) called for me and we set off up the M1, me on my T5 and Simon on the chopper. Just past Scratchwood services (about 3 miles from the London end of the M1) Simon pulled over, there was an awful noise emanating from the engine, we decided it was best to press on to the show where there would hopefully be help available.

We got there after a couple more stops and had a cuppa and started on the engine. I was genuinely chuffed by the helpfulness of people who would come up and say 'Hello' and before you knew it they were up to their elbows in Lambretta engine.

We borrowed lots of tools from Lee from Ellenelle seat coverers, who as well as being a top seat coverer is a very nice bloke. While Simon was being helped with the engine I kept popping into the show to have a look round and pick up the odd part that Simon needed. (It's probably the best place to have a broken down scooter)

The show was up to it's usual high standards, with the dazzling display of custom and restored scooters. There was the usual spread of scooter parts on sale and by the end of the day some prices were ridiculously low (i.e. a great big box of Lambretta engine bits for 35 quid, etc.)

In what appears to have been a momentary lapse of reason, Simon swapped his Hardly Davidson for a vespa P210 Malossi turbo nutter bastard. Keep your eyes peeled for this machine once Simon has got it looking how he wants it. Apart from that excitement it was another excellent show organised by the L.C.G.B., just make sure you go next year.
