The fat mouse page...

 This project is being developed to make use of both magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy to determine lipid levels in mice and rats.  Some of these critters are on special diets, some are mutant strains developed to investigate signaling pathways in fat storage and utilisation.

For now, here are a couple of images we obtained from a wild-type and a knockout mouse:

[256x128 image zero-filled square acquired with a sweep width of 20,000 Hz and an echo time of 28 msec and pulse repetition time of 0.8 sec]

Hopefully, quantitative information about regional fat deposition will result from images, such as these.

As the project develops, more details will be posted here.
