There is a quiz this Friday. The final is two fridays from now.
The final two extra credit reading possibilities are now on the readings website. Extra credit can be turned in anytime before the end of the final exam.

Homework #4 is due on Monday. If is now available on the web. I will post a summary of this past week's in class discussions/notes later today.

Read the chapter called 'The Debate'
On Wednesday day we will discuss an article on lop-sided journalism, I have posted it with the other readings. Read it for wednesday please


Thursday July 30, 2009
Wednesday we discussed weather and climate models using the Atmos. Sci. Dept. weather website, the link for it is with Thursday's slides. Thursday we discuss geoengineering, it will not be on the quiz friday.
I have added another extra credit reading.

For Wednesday read: 'Circuits of Change': pp. 227-244. Skip the orange blobbies, except: page 228 and page 241. Read them.

Monday July 27, 2009, WEEK #6 out of 9:

Monday we will discuss: Floating Houses from the reading section, make sure you read it if you miss class.
For Tuesday, you should read:
-The orange section on pp176-177.
-The section starting on page 181 called: Heat at a Height.
-The orange section on pp.182-183
-The section starting on page 185 called: Global Dimming
Also, re-read the last section on the long-view:
-The section starting on p.220 to page 226. Skip all of the orange sections, except the one on pages 222-223. "Painting the Little Ice Age" read it!

Homework #3: Due this Friday, or next Monday if you prefer (no difference to me). I have extra copies of Homework 3, so you can get one from me if you dont want to print it out.

July 14, 2009:
Slides for week 4 are up. The book has a misprint. On page 206, line #2 (in the text below the chart) change the word 'air' to 'rocks'. Also, this Saturday, in Kane Hall at 6pm there is an interesting talk related to what we learned this week. Check it out if you have time. Details are on a flyer in the elevator in the ATG building

I have added supplemental reading on the carbon cycle. It is very useful, but contains more details than I will require for exams. It is a great resource, if you have questions about the carbon cycle. It includes information on ocean acidification

I have typed up my chalkboard notes for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, they are on the Lectures website. Also, there are some slides for tomorrow. Also we have homework due Friday.

Monday and Tuesday's lectures were notes on the chalk board. I have added another Extra Credit reading, it is on hydrology in the western US and the impacts of global warming.

Homework #2, due this Friday, July 10; handed-out in class today. You can find it in the Homework Assignments. Reading: Henson pp.193-226. Also, for Friday, read the supplemental reading titled: Global Warming is shrinking the sheep.

For next week, read in Henson, pp. 20-31. Also, I have added readings to the supplemental reading webpage. One is a useful reference, the other is an editorial that you can use for the extra credit assignment.

During today's class, we will discuss Henson, pp3-19. I will give everyone in class a hand-out. If you miss class and want the handout, you can find it in the link on the left column called "in-class handouts".
