---PRE TEST---

  1. Please read the overview of the system before clicking into the prototype.
  2.  I’m going to ask you to begin performing several tasks using the prototype system in front of you. This system has only link names listed and does not look like the final system.
  3. (InfoArch Only) I am going to begin by asking you what tasks you would be able perform within each menu.
  4. (InfoArch Only—if any tasks weren’t mentioned) Where would you expect to go to accomplish ______ task?
  5. I would like for you to just tell me what you are thinking as you try to accomplish these tasks. Just go ahead and think out-loud and tell me what you are thinking, there are no right or wrong answers here.
  6. I am particularly interested in how how you interpret the link names, and if you are confused by them, or whether you can’t find what you are looking for.
  7. I also want to remind you that I am testing the system, not you.

 

---POST TEST---

  1. We are done with the task portion of the usability test; I’m going to ask you some questions about the tasks you performed.
  2. On a scale from 1-5, 5 being the most difficult, overall, how hard were the tasks that you performed?
  3. Which task was the hardest? (This is the list of tasks I asked you to perform.)
  4. Which task was the easiest?
  5. Do you have any suggestions for how the system should be improved? Was anything missing?

 

 

zBento Usability Tasks

 

Tasks:

    • Upload item,
    • Add/change user profiles
    • Add a student group
    • Group content to classify with an additional tag (e.g., everything tuscan and roman as “italian”)
    • Change questions associated with a category.
    • Add “phone number” to the user profiles, so that people have to enter it.
    • Search for content by document type
    • Create or change classification

 

Sergio want’s to add some students to his database.

  • It is the beginning of the quarter, and you want to add an RA/TA and two students to your system so that they can help you …….(do what?)
  • You just took a short movie on your last trip to India. How would you add this movie?
  • You are going to present at a conference next Wednesday on “Teaching Undergraduate.” You have notes which you would like to use in your presentation scattered throughout zBento. How would you go about finding these notes and creating a presentation with them?   
  • You are going to have a whole class of students (around 30) contribute to your site as part of a class. What information would you want from them? You want them to include their phone numbers as part of their “user profile,” but currently, the system does not require this from them. How would you change this?
  • You have in zBento several categories:
    • Chocolate
    • Recipes
    • Italian
    • French
    • Hot Food
    • Cold Food

How would you find a hot chocolate recipe from France?

  • Grouping Content for recategorization: You have been labeling content, erroneously, as “italian” when it should be French, how would you fix this error?
  • Grouping Content for subcategorization: You also recently found out that a most of your recipes from France (except the chocolate recipes) are considered “crunch food.” Add this information to your content.
