Cracking the Data Encryption Standard at the UW
Part of a group effort at http://www.frii.com/~rcv/deschall.htm (The DESCHALL Group).
Join the cooperative effort! Make history!
As much as I know there has been no publicity or specific organizing of the DES effort at the UofWashington. As individual efforts go, those helping at the UW have done just fine.
Since there have been such fancy WEB Pages made at different organizations, I just thought I'd create this simple page to acknowledge those at "washington.edu" who have contributed their idle CPU cycles to the cause.
If you are at the UofW and want me to know that you are helping to break the code, just e-mail Chris Prall and tell me who you are. The UW effort to date is so individualistic; please tell me if you have an opinion to keep it that way or try to organize the effort.
Tell me if you think this page should contain a list like the Individual Students at Northwestern University .
Check out the rankings of domain names based on keys tested in the last 24 hours.
Justin Dolske from OSU has implemented a system to graph out DESCHALL info for particular domains! If you're interested in looking at the UofW's contribution, select one of the following links:
Here's the numerical representation of the progress, and alternately several progress graphs maintained by Justin..
Also, just enter washington.edu in the Graph-O-Matic and Generate the graph

Finally, since the US Government has made it illegal to export the DES code, but it is legal for people outside the US who (somehow, I just don't know how a math routine leaked out of our border) have the DES routine, there is an alternate (international via Sweden) DES Challenge Coordinated Effort
