ASK A RESIDENT: GEOFF ANKENEY
Much of Geoff's medical education occurred in Israel, which gave him the opportunity to travel and see the world. Before med school, he studied photography and skied every weekend in Colorado. He then moved to Santa Barbara for his pre-med degree. While there, he did clinical research in diabetes and surfed as much as possible. Dr. Ankeney has a true love for fiction and is in the process of writing his first novel, which he describes as "Star Trek in the body."

- Emphasis on training for practice in small town areas and a strong obstetrics curriculum
- A unique combination of tertiary care center and community hospital, serving a growing population in the five-county area of Southwest Washington
- First year residents see patients 1-2 half days per week; second year residents average 3-4 half days per week, in a more longitudinalized curriculum
- Third year residents practice in the FMC regularly except for specific longitudinal experiences, week-long mini-rotations and one rural practice month
