New Blackberry Service
- C&C provides acquisition, configuration, training, and support
- Uses central email servers
- Can include Oracle calendar
- Aimed at executive levels - not cheap!
- C&C can also help with Treos and other smartphones

Oracle Calendar Service
- Pilot project was succesful - now moved to production status
- Used by about 2300 people currently
- Calendaring available as a standalone service
- $45 one-time license cost
- $3 per month support and maintenance (covers both Oracle and C&C)

Email woes
- UW email was recently blocked by AOL and AT&T
- Caused by spambots on compromised hosts on UW networks
- Consequences of unmanaged desktops are borne by the entire institution
- After many hours of work, the current situation is (we believe) resolved, BUT...
- C&C looking at ways of reducing UW's exposure
- May have implications for current practices
Winter 2005 UWICK changes
- Firefox and Thunderbird 1.0
- Tectia for Windows replaces ssh.com - supports ssh 2
- VirusScan 8.0 for Windows is now recommended (instead of "preview"
- Virex 7.5.1 for Mac OS X, Virex 6.2 for Mac OS 8 & 9 (required upgrade)
