Business Databases

Investex - The Investex Group Research Bank Web brings together investment research and industry analysis. It contains research from over 450 investment banks and 150 trade associations as well as fundamental financial information from Moody's Investors Service. This can only be accessed through the UW modem pool or an on-campus computer to successfully connect. You can also use UW off-campus access procedures.

MIT Technology Review - Browse it at your UWB Library!

Nature.com - A whole compilation of biotech journals, but it also contains ONE journal on the future of computing. You can also use UW off-campus access procedures.

CEO Express - A launching pad to find magazine and news sources.

Tech Crunch - Generally cool daily news is here. Read Tech Crunch while you eat Captain Crunch for Breakfast!

SlashDot - News for nerds.  Full of gossip and ground breaking news on technology.  This is used to be the watering hole for technophiles until Tech Crunch kicked its butt.

Industry Analysts

These are independent market research firms. These web sites may require you to register. Don't worry, it's free and they won't bother you, especially if you tell them you are a poor student. But the information about revenue growth is almost second to none as they incorporate direct marketing research data. Their free reports and newsletters may be invaluable for your reports. 

Cahners Business Information - Cahners harnesses the power of information to help business leaders make the best decisions and to help marketers sell to those leaders, so goes their hype.  Nevertheless, they probably have some of the most extensive free information on the web.  They're generally reputable researchers.

Forrester  UW restricted Forrester is an independent research firm that analyzes the future of technology change and its impact on businesses, consumers, and society and analyzes such technology areas as new media, computing, software, networking, telecommunications, and the Internet. Access is provided to some reports in this database.

This research page is a "general" tool, while the following are focused on specific topics.  If you're doing a project within these areas, then it is worth visiting these research pages.  If you're trying to answer homework questions related to Innovation Financing, then that special research page will help you.
