ENVIR 492 ASSIGNMENTS

There are three major assignments for ENVIR 492. They are the analysis paper, a presentation at the capstone conference, and the integrative essay. You must complete all three of these assignments in order to pass ENVIR 492. There are also a number of minor assignments for this course.

The Analysis Paper

Your grade on the Analysis Paper counts for 37.5% of your overall grade in this course. Please bring THREE COPIES of the rough draft of your Analysis Paper to class on Monday, May 5. The rough draft is mandatory. It will not be graded, but you will receive extensive feedback on your draft. Rough drafts must be complete and on time. Failure to submit a rough draft on time will result in a late penalty being assessed on the final draft. Your final draft is due before 3:30 on Friday, May 16.

Analysis Paper Guidelines

Sample Analysis Papers from previous years appear in the ENVIR 492 Course Reader, documents #1-4.

The Integrative Essay

Your integrative essay constitutes 7.5% of your overall grade in this course. It is due at our last class on June 11. Here are the guidelines for the integrative essay.

Engagement Grade and Career-Related Assignments

Fifteen percent of your grade in this class is based upon your engagment score. This score is partially based on your contributions to class discussions and activities, but much of your engagement grade comes from your performance on the smaller course assignments that are listed on the class calendar. In addition, 10% of your grade is dependent upon career-related assignments, such as polishing your resume and practicing your interview skills. First, students participate in a mock job interview at the Center for Career Services in Mary Gates Hall 134 sometime before the end of the quarter . Second, students must research and present about a career field or gradaute school program of their choice. (M ore information about this assignment will be posted later.)
