Bevacizumab (Avastin)

• A monoclonal antibody that blocks vascular endothelial growth factor
• Associated with reduced mortality in lung, breast, and colorectal Ca when used with standard chemotherapeutic agents (data reported at American Society of Clinical Oncology, reported in Family Practice News 6/15/2005)
• Associated with abnormal bleeding and leukopenia
