Temporary NetID Usage

I don't have counts of Temporary UW NetIDs that have been reserved each day, or month, or quarter, but I do have the total that were in use each day at about 7am and the number that were recycled at that time. The recycled count should roughly correspond to the number reserved, but won't be exact since reservation durations can vary from pool to pool and from account to account within a pool.

The temporary NetIDs in the css pool are assigned by Classroom Support Services staff.

The event pool is for shared usage. For example, all members of a seminar or conference may use the same temporary NetID. These NetIDs are assigned by normal staff and faculty.

The hslib pool is allocated by the Health Sciences Libraries staff.

The lib pool is allocated by the main library staff.

The uwctc pool was set up for Cascadia Community College access to the UW Bothell Libraries. Usage of this pool has dropped off now that Cascadia students and staff can get their own personal NetIDs.

Note that the Cascadia NetID assignment mechanism was broken over summer of 2006.

Cascadia was added as a separate population in Fall of 2006. This feed was periodically broken for a few days at a time between December 2008 and July 2009.

The vpn pool is allocated for use with VoIP phones.

Temporary NetIDs in the wire pool are allocated by your everyday staff and faculty to allow visitors to authenticate to the wireless access points across campus.

We introduced Sponsored NetIDs in May of 2010.
