Red Mountain

February 2008

TR by Brian

Not willing to let Nick & Co. have all the fun on Saturday, Evan, Analisa, Kris, Sean, Michelle, and I also decided to have a go at Red Mountain

We gained the SW ridge from a different aspect than the other group and spent a fair bit of time sliding uphill on glop before reaching the more solid boot track on the ridge. The summit was, as summits are on such nice days, outstanding. Having not spent as much time in the area, I had some trouble with "Name that Peak". After identifying Thompson and Big Snow, I was down to, "Well, it's either one of the five Lemahs, or Summit Chief, or Overcoat, or Burnt Boot."

All too soon, we decided to head down, and since most of us lacked skis, opted for the ever-popular butt-glissade. Snow had softened greatly, and by the time we reached the base, we were sitting in waist deep glop.
