I am the laboratory coordinator for the School of
Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington. I'm trying to update my webpage when I can. If links appear to go
nowhere, I probably haven't finished that link yet.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship,
design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying,
take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch
manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization
is for insects.

Here in the few remaining moments we have left,
just what do you propose we say in our defense?
That much was decided before any one of us were born?
That we were nothing more than objective observers to the madness
and throw up your hands in sadness?
"We're powerless to change anything anyways."
So just lay back upon your death bed
and gaze idiotically back up the chain of command
from which we receive our directives.
I guess it's just common sense to preach what ought to be
but ensure it never is in the present tense.
