What does the circulation term "recall" mean compared to the term "hold?"

  1. Placing a recall in addition to a hold on a checked-out item sets the fine system in operation.
  2. No difference; they're the same thing.
  3. Recalling an item in addition to placing a hold on a checked-out item allows it to be renewed by the current borrower.

Someone wants to place a hold on an item that is checked out to our New Book Shelf. You should:
