I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Bumgarner Lab at the Department of Microbiology at University of Washington. My research focuses on pattern recognition using functional genomics data. I am interested in engineering practical algorithms and software tools to facilitate the extraction and interpretation of biological meaning from high throughput data. I am a computer scientist by training (Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Washington), but I also have extensive experience in applying statistical techniques to analysis of high dimensional microarray data and working with researchers with different scientific backgrounds.
